Layana Aguilar showcases an expressive Spring/Summer 2015 collection
I love Layana Aguilar’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection. Aguilar is a Brazilian designer, an FIT graduate, and was a contestant on Project Runway’s 11th season. Her collection is comprised of beautiful pastels, floral patterns, and neoprene fabric. It’s perfect for the sophisticated woman that takes on many different roles on a daily basis and wants to wear something comfortable, but still be able to express her personality and look confidently feminine. Some of my favorite looks include a white sleeveless neoprene dress, a light blue neoprene jacket paired with a matching skirt, a white neoprene top with floral accents paired with a matching skirt, and a floral strap dress with black accents. I’m so impressed with the collection’s beautiful, detailed and unique looks! Definitely check out the Spring 2015 lookbook at http://www.layanaaguilar.com/new-gallery2/.
GBK Gifting Lounge 2014: A great lineup of brands
Sorry it’s been a while since I last posted, but I wanted to share a last highlight from NY Fashion Week. GBK hosted its annual two-day Gifting Lounge event for celebrities and fashion insiders to check out. The event featured great products from Pilot Pen, Hard Candy, EMK Beverly Hills, Cynthia Gale, Skinny & Co., Jane Basch, Robdechi, and Michael Todd True Organics (Soniclear). Guests at the event were treated to makeup touch-ups, hair styling, and manicures. They also enjoyed beverages provided by Svedka Vodka and Jeju Sixteen water.
My favorite products at the event were from Soniclear, Cynthia Gale, and EMK Beverly Hills. Soniclear is the first antimicrobrial sonic skin cleansing brush and sonic eraser that hydrates the skin and improves skin tone. Cynthia Gale jewelry is sterling silver-based and its unique designs are inspired by art, history, and travel. EMK Beverly Hills carries a skincare line of anti-aging botanical placenta skin treatments. The event proved to be such a great way to learn about and interact with some amazing brands!
An inside look at my journey on the first couple of days of MBFW!
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week SS 2015 is in full swing in New York City. I’ve had the amazing opportunity to see some great shows and presentations! Here are some highlights! Last Thursday, I saw the BCBG Max Azria runway show at Lincoln Center. The collection was filled with a beautiful blend of pastels. I later saw Desigual’s runway show at Lincoln Center, which featured a vibrant range of bright colors, floral prints, with the models blowing kisses at the audience. Old Navy and Joe Zee, Old Navy’s style ambassador threw an amazing party that had a showcase of cute t-shirts and a cool appearance by Katie Holmes. Altuzarra and Target also hosted a great celebration for their new collaboration collection, which features beautiful prints and the prevalence of maroon and blue hues.
On Friday, I saw the Kate Spade Presentation at Center 548. The space was transformed into a Spring oasis and the beautiful clothes featured green hues and floral prints, and let’s not forget about Kate Spade’s great handbags! I later went to the L.A.M.B. presentation at ArtBeam where hot pink and tribal prints were the chic trends, and Gwen Stefani even posed with her cool collection. Lastly, I went to the Barbie & CFDA party in the Meatpacking District where Barbie-inspired dresses were showcased from the following designers: Tess Giberson, Rebecca Taylor, Charlotte Ronson, Whitney Pozygay, and Cynthia Vincent. Guests at the event were also able to create their own Barbie-inspired outfits via the Barbie Fashion Designer app.
On Saturday, I went to the Lacoste runway show where fashion forward and sporty looks graced the catwalk. I also saw the Rebecca Taylor runway show where feminine pastels and chic prints were prevalent in the line. I then went backstage before the Christian Siriano show and models were getting prepped with soft wavy hair, light-weight skin, and glittery eyelashes. Siriano’s collection featured soft green, navy, and white evening wear. I closed the night with the TRUE Model Management party at the new hot spot Leonora. The trendy venue was filled with beautiful models and great music. Stay tuned for more MBFW highlights!
Highlights on fashion presentations from 9/2 and 9/3
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York is already off to an exciting start! On Tuesday, just 2 days before the official first day, Maison Jules showcased a very feminine, artistic, and chic FW 2014 collection at Art Beam. Hats and fun prints were prevalent in the Parisian-themed line. On Wednesday, the Couture Council of The Museum at FIT honored Carolina Herrera with its 2014 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion at a beautiful luncheon at the David H Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. Notable guests such as Renee Zellweger, Lucy Liu, and Ivanka Trump looked stunning in Carolina Herrera dresses.
That same day, New York Men’s Day took place at Industria Studios and I was able to see 5 of the designer’s SS15 collections: Stephen F, Antonio Azzolo, Carlos Campos, and Original Penguin. Each one had some great bright colors and mixed prints. WHIT also had an SS15 presentation at ONISHI PROJECT Pop-up Gallery on Wednesday. Her collection included flirty, feminine, and floral looks. What a great kick-off lineup! Check out some of the photos I took at these events. More to come, stay tuned!
Checking out the new Dog House Suites at The OUT Hotel
I recently attended a launch party for the new Dog House Suites at The OUT Hotel. It’s so great to know that there’s a new posh space for dogs to stay at, whether they’re from out of town or they decide to go on a staycation. The rooms are super nice with plush amenities such as spa products for dogs and their owners. Each suite even has its own private terrace furnished with a dog house, a comfy couch, and a fire hydrant. I fell in love with this dog named Enzo at the event, and had to get a photo with him! Take a look at shots from my visit below!
Bubble Witch 2 Saga launch event: Mixing beauty and digital adventures
A few days ago, King and Alexis Wolfer from The Beauty Bean hosted a launch celebration at Gansevoort Park Avenue to debut the new Bubble Witch 2 Saga game app. The goal of Bubble Witch 2 Saga is to pop as many bubbles as you can to help Stella, The Good Witch, and her cats fight against the evil spirits that are taking over their beautiful land. Melissa Joan Hart, who used to be a good witch on “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” was in attendance at the festive event, as was Kelly Bensimon. Guests enjoyed beauty treatments such as manicures and makeup touch-ups, as well as specialty cocktails: the Stella Royale, the Bubble-ini, and the Bewitch-itini. It was so much fun to play Bubble Witch 2 Saga and to see all the colorful and different characters within the game. Check out photos from the event below!

Light and flirty outfit options for the summer that transition well into the fall
As summer is gradually winding down, I’m starting to think about what key wardrobe pieces would also be great for the fall. I love summer fashion- wearing sundresses, flared skirts, sleeveless tops, sexy jumpsuits- and always try to find easy, seamless ways to stretch it into the the fall season. My favorite pieces for this year that fit this very task are a teal sleeveless dress by Sosie, a red-orange sleeveless dress by Darling, a white embossed floral skater skirt by AMI Clubwear, and a red sleeveless jumpsuit from Lumier by Bariano. These pieces are fun, feminine, classy, statement-worthy, and are perfect during the day or for an evening soiree. Throw on a chic cardigan, and you’re all set for the fall season. Check out the photos down below to see me wearing and showcasing these trendy looks. Would love to know what you all think!
An intimate concert: Kenny Loggins puts on a top-notch show at City Winery
Recently, I was privileged to see one of my all-time favorite singers, Kenny Loggins, in concert at City Winery. I had a great view of the stage in the middle seated section of the venue, where I saw Kenny perform “Conviction of the Heart,” “This Is It,” “I’m Alright,” “House on Pooh Corner,” “Playing With the Boys,” and “Footloose,” among other great songs. He also performed some new tunes with his new band, Blue Sky Riders. Most of the audience knew the lyrics to a number of his songs (including me), and it was great to see how engaged they were with his performance. Such a fun night on the town! Check out photos from the concert below. It was a one-of-a-kind performance that I’ll never forget!
