This season’s New York Fashion Week had a lot of memorable looks. Whether there was a focus on detailing, sustainability, or elegance, designers definitely left their mark. Here’s a look at some of the fashion shows and presentations that conveyed a lasting impression:
The Greta Constantine Fall/Winter 2019 collection was all about elegance, modesty, and sustainability. It’s inspired by the designer-duo’s , Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong, trip to Dubai, where women exude sophistication and confidence. They decided to reuse fabrics from previous seasons and purpose them in unique ways, My favorite looks included a silver metallic knit floor length dress, a tulle jumpsuit paired with a sequin turtleneck, and a black ruffle jacket over a sequin turtleneck and gray flowy pants. All of the outfits were attention-grabbing, vibrant, and full of class.
Jiri Kalfar
The Jiri Kalfar Fall/Winter 2019 runway show highlighted a refined, luxurious essence. The designer used silk, tulle, wool, tweed, and lots of lace. My top picks included a red silk dress with billowed sleeves paired with over the knee red boots, a red wool sweater paired with red silk cuffed pants, and a black silk dress with ruffles paired with a Tonak red cotton captain hat. I loved how a lot of the looks were wearable and how chic they were. They were expressive, powerful, and playful all at once. So many memorable looks!
Blue Jacket Fashion Show
The Blue Jacket Fashion Show promoted awareness for prostate cancer and had a great lineup of notable models. These participants included Nigel Barker, Mario Cantone, Buster Skrine, Drake Bell, Alex Lundqvist, Simon Doonan, Jeremy Carver, Steven Kolb, and more. Renowned designers designed their jackets: Polo Ralph Lauren, John Varvatos, Joseph Abboud, Emporio Armani, Todd Snyder, Hugo Boss, and more. I loved the Brooks Brother jacket that Nigel Barker wore, the Duckie Brown jacket that Buster Skrine sported, and the Michael Kors jacket worn by Mario Cantone. The show was so entertaining and for such a great cause!
Tadashi Shoji
Tadashi Shoji showcased glamour and chic sophistication in his Fall/Winter 2019 collection. He featured an ample amount of lace, velvet, deep v-neck silhouettes, cutouts, and jewel tones. My favorite looks included a blue velvet off the shoulder gown, a gold silk and sequined gown with side cutouts, a black lace gown with pink applique flowers, and a black and silver one-shoulder gown. This collection is certainly all about the intricate detailing!
