This past Sunday, I checked out the 11th Annual Jazz Age Lawn Party at Governor’s Island. I was blown away by this vibrant ’20s Gatsby-inspired soiree! It featured live music by Michael Arenella & His Dreamland Orchestra, performances by Queen Esther and Peter Mintun, dancing, vintage merchandise, gourmet eats, and fancy cocktails. St-Germain French elderflower liqueur, one of my favorite liqueurs, presented the event and featured three different specialty cocktails. They included The St. Germain Cocktail, Strike Up The Band, and Flapper’s Delight. The VIP area featured food by Metropolitan Seafood & Gourmet and ice cream delights prepared by Ice & Vice.
Additionally, there was an array of contests and activities throughout the day. They included Bathing Beauties and Beaus Promenade, vintage portraits, a kid’s carnival, the Annual “High Court of Pie” Contest, and a 1920’s motor car exhibit. Bloom That participated in the activities as well by making custom boutonnieres.
I loved seeing the event’s guests dressed up in ’20s attire, with flapper dresses, long strands of pearls, dapper suits, and slick hats. And the sun umbrellas were perfect for getting some shade during this time of unbearable heat! The lively music kept everyone smiling throughout the day. The scene was beautiful and a fabulous recreation of a golden era!
