Diner en Blanc NYC hosted an iconic dinner affair on October 1st at Pier 83- Hudson River Park. There were close to 2000 guests dressed in all-white attire, surrounded by their beautiful white table decorations. Entertainment included an opera singer, acrobats, and a DJ that played an eclectic mix of music all night.
The evening started with the epic napkin waving, and it sure didn’t disappoint. Everyone was on point and knew what to do! They happily waved their napkins, showing their excitement for the start of the event.
Additionally, Chef Todd English curated dishes for the evening and I had a chance to catch up with him. He said: “the thing that makes me happiest is to see people coming together, bringing the food to the table, setting the scenes, just the experience. Food naturally brings festivity, food actually brings people together.” English loves working with Diner en Blanc, “a great organization…we have such a great time together.” He’s even involved with Diner en Blanc events in other cities that include Los Angeles, Chicago, and he’s working on having an event in Bali.
Moreover, his menu for the iconic dinner affair included lobster rolls, salmon with a green goddess cucumber dressing, garlic scampi, Parmesan and whipped burrata risotto with roasted cherry tomatoes, pork avocado sandwiches with apple chutney, and Korean steak with coconut cream corn. Such a wonderful combination of international flavors!
In addition to the delicious food, there were beautiful white decorations all around. My favorite ones included a Metropolitan sign, a flower and sash canopy, a white neon sign, and crystal candle holders. A bubble machine started running later in the evening and it complemented the white decorations perfectly. Everyone was so creative and full of excitement!
In summary, the evening was incredible, bringing people together for a celebration of food, fashion, and community. As always, looking forward to next year’s event!
